Facebook is one of those applications that receives updates constantly. And every time we come across a new design, we find that it is difficult for us to find some sections that we previously knew perfectly well where they were. This is something that can happen to us with the privacy information in the latest Facebook update .
Coinciding with the controversy over the link with WhatsApp , those responsible for the platform have decided to make some changes that will change the way we manage our privacy.
If before we had our information concentrated in two different sections, "Information about you" and "Your personal information" , now all privacy management will be in a single section, so that management is a little easier.
We must bear in mind that, in our use of Facebook, we give the social network a significant amount of data about us . Therefore, it is important that we know how to set all this data under control. This way we can decide if we want to make any changes so that fewer people can access our information or if we directly want to eliminate part of it. Therefore, being aware of the changes becomes quite important.
Compared to the two sections that we had previously, now we will only find a section with personal information, which is divided into 8 subsections . The difficulty for inexperienced users may lie in finding it. But, if you want to make changes with the latest update, you just have to follow these steps:
Open the Facebook app on Android or iOS and log in Facebook account. Click on the three stripes that you will find at the top. Access Settings and privacy. Go into Settings. In the menu that appears, choose Your Facebook Information. Finally, enter Access your information.
8 NEW SECTIONS
As we have mentioned previously, in the latest version of the application we can find 8 different sections in which to control our privacy. In them you will find everything you need to have your information under control. These new sections in which you can handle the data that you have published on Facebook are the following:
Your activity on Facebook: In this section you can find everything you have published on Facebook, as well as your comments on other people's publications.
Personal information: In this section you can find all your personal data . From your address, your phone number or the date you opened your account. This may be probably the most sensitive information.
Friends and followers: Here you will find all the information and interactions you have had with other users of the social network.
Recorded information: This section basically includes your history. Both the search history and the history of locations that have been registered on the network. This last point can also be sensitive information
Login and security information: Here you will find all the information about the times you have logged into your account.
Apps and websites outside of Facebook: If you used your Facebook account to log into another application, you can find it here.
Preferences: In this section you can find the friends and pages that you have marked as favorites, as well as the facial recognition preferences.
Information about ads: Finally, you can find here all the information that different advertisers have about you.
The new design of the Facebook application that includes these changes is now available for both Android and iOS.
