My inspiration for this project came from reading about the difficulties with mapping data. In her post “That Map Just Lied to Me,” Katie Richard criticizes the following map. She points out that “Delaware and Texas have the same percentage but Texas’ problem seems to have greater weight because of its size” in the graph below.
