In the section I've indicated (see description above), in the background are the drums and organ, which are playing roughly the same thing in respective loops. At the foreground are the vocalists, the most forefront being the female vocalist, whose higher pitch and more variable rhythm catches one's attention more than the male vocalist's lyrics. Momentum is then increased directly after the refrain by new sounds created by the instruments.
