For this project, I read an excerpt from Ptolemy's Gate, the third book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. For the first recording I sat approximately 4 inches away from the microphone, and the audio quality is very good, it sounds like I'm standing right next to you. For the second recording I stood up and spoke from approximately 3 feet away from the microphone. Its clear that the sound quality is poorer and softer because less sound is getting to the microphone. The second recording also sounds more muffled, even though I was recording in a quiet room. While both recordings have minimal background noise, its clear that recording closer to the microphone gets more of the original sound data then recording farther away.
