Project Proposal

My goal is to investigate the various textiles and non-traditional materials to construct bowties. Part of my inspiration for this project is derived from my construction of a bow while trying to sew a heart pillow during lab. The sketch below is an example what I propose to construct. 

Product Material: Leather, Plastic, Canvas, Thread

Technique and Concepts Used: In order to create the design on the leather, I plan to use a laser cutter to make precise geometric patterns. This would be similar to what is roughly shown in the sketch. I would then use a combination of hand sewing and machine sewing to construct the 'tie' and to sew on the adjustable clasp.
