Ultimately, my sketch did not end up reflecting what I produced. Initially, I wanted a circle clock embedded in the fire, however for aesthetic reasons I felt it would ultimately look better if the fire was embedded in the clock. The relative size stayed the same, and I still used "logs" as the hands of the clock.
