Process

The first stitch I did was a simple ribbed stitch. The way that this stitch is worked is as a half double crochet, but each row is worked only into the back of the previous one so it kind of zig-zags back and forth and gets a ribbed effect.

The second stitch I tried was a basket weave stitch. This one was very difficult for me because you had to work into the posts of the previous row, and sometimes you had to work behind your previous stitches. However, it was a good way to practice the double crochet and I think the stitch itself looks really nice.

The final stitch I learned was the arcade stitch. I thought that I would get frustrated with this stitch as it involved a lot of counting, but it ended up being my favorite stitch and I actually went back and tried it again once I finished my first sample. The second time, I used the same yarn that I had dyed using tea to give the sample an ombre effect. I especially liked this stitch because it had a mixture of chain stitches, single crochet, and double crochet so I didn't get too bored of doing the same stitch for a long time.
