Andy Warhol used repetitions to make tragic events appear both empty and more devastating. He has said that "when you see a gruesome picture over and over again, it doesn't really have any effect." [1] However, the same repetition reminds the viewers that they have become desensitized so much that they hardly stop and reflect on these tragic events. The song that I chose also has a similar attitude towards the negative progression of our society with the lyric "oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend." Warhol uses bright colors and eliminates details in many of his paintings, making them very attractive to the eyes. It also speaks a powerful, uniform voice through the simplification.
