The use of color contrast in Warhol's artworks gives them a deeper meaning. The Race Riot painting showcases such technique; the discord between the cold blue and white and the bloody red discusses to the viewers the ruthlessness of the police and pain of black protesters during the Civil Rights Movement. The photograph itself is a high contrast version of the original photograph by a photographer for Life magazine.
In my composition, I want to display photographs both positive and negative events in recent progresses in different light and color. I want to repeat each event multiple times, emphasizing on the events that had a significant impact on where humans are today. I want to contrast the positive events with the negative ones by using warmer colors for the positive ones, and colder colors and darker shades for the negative ones for seriousness. I also think there are no events that are absolutely positive or negative; I think some of the positive events would have colder colors leak in if they have some negative effects as well.
