Outcome

The Probable Universe Project created by Ann-Kristen Abel and Paul Ferragut is an interactive art piece that changes every time it is run. The project is a robot arm that moves autonomously projecting textures on various object in a dark room. These textures are generative meaning that each time the piece is run it is unique. I picked this project because I find it really interesting how no iteration is the same and though the project is the same every time you view it, it is slightly different. Each person who views this piece will get their own unique moment that can not be recreated.

I think one of the short comings of the piece is that it didn't play with color, instead choosing to go with a more modern piece in only black and white. I don't know if this is true but I like how there might be some images/sounds that are always there from showing to showing. I think that this consistency adds something to the piece since the piece is meant to be different every time but its interesting to think about how there is something consistent throughout each run.

The way the textures interact with the pieces of furniture and the room remind me of optical illusions. They add a second level of movement to the piece that is reminiscent of optical illusions.

I think this relates to my final project because it captures the theme of having a unique experience for all viewers. I would like my piece to be able to be different every time its displayed so people feel the urge to interact with it once and create their own unique experience that is solely theirs.
