Weather Worlds is an interactive installation created by Theo Watson, Emily Gobeille and Nick Hardeman of Design I/O that allows participants to control their environment by moving their bodies. They can, for instance, summon gusts of wind, create earthquakes, bend the sun's rays, and generate blizzards. It is interesting because the actual environment the participants are in is not affected. There is a green screen behind the participants, and computer vision is used to detect their movements. The actual weather environment is on a screen that the participants see as they move, much like the weather forecasting system used on news shows. While I think it emphasizes the idea of play well, I think it is a bit too chaotic, which may also be due to the children. I want the connection between the motion and the action to be a bit more clear to better learn how to create certain effects in the installation.
