Outcome

Jello Shooter

The purpose of this toy is to shoot jello. This will be accomplished using air to force jello out of a  barrel, launching it through the air. The main parts of the toy are the barrel, the chamber, and the trigger mechanism. The barrel is the part that contains the jello. The barrel is detachable from the main part of the shooter, allowing for interchangeable barrels of different shapes. It will have divots at the base that allow it to attach to the main part of the shooter. The main part producing force is the chamber. The chamber contains a spring. This spring is compressed by pulling the rod at the back of the shooter, until the plate at the end of the spring locks into place behind the trigger mechanism. When released, the spring will decompress and force the plate forward, and the air in the chamber will be forced through the nozzle and into the barrel, projecting the jello out of the shooter. The trigger mechanism consists of two pieces held in place by a spring. Pulling the trigger rotates that piece and causes the second piece to rotate, releasing the plate and causing the shooter to launch the jello.  This toy will teach children about trajectory, and how different angles can affect the height and distance a projectile goes. It will also demonstrate how potential energy can be converted to kinetic energy.
