Outcome

I was inspired by the techniques presented over the course of the class. In particular the possibilities of forming connections with fabric and textiles in different and unique ways. For the first switch (of hopefully many more to come), I am going to use conductive fabric to create soft push buttons. I created three switches that are connected to three individual LEDs. This investigation, for me, was a lot about working with the conductive fabric and figuring out how the circuits will work.

Resources

I looked a lot at Instructables for inspiration. It spurred a lot of lofty ideas, ideas that I want to explore further in the future with more time.

Materials

  • LEDs
  • Conductive Fabric
  • Conductive Thread
  • Found Fabric
  • Neoprene
  • Sewing Machine

Possible Applications

I'm excited to explore the idea of soft switches, I can see many possibilities with them. From wearables to assistive devices.
