Outcome

Intention

For this project, I really wanted to create something that I would use, and would be proud of having in my room. So when looking for what things I can hold I decided to go with a fruit holder. I love fruits, and I noticed I had nowhere to put them!

Context

After looking at other bowls, I decided that I wanted to base my bowl after one of my favorite artist, Yayoi Kusama. The artist focuses on patterns and repetition. So for my bowl, I really wanted to incorporate her trademark repeating circles/wholes. For this reason, my bowl has a lot of random holes.

Process

Outline your approach to the project? What ideas did you generate and how did you refine or reject them? What did you research and explore? what were the design choices? What challenges were encountered and how did you resolve them?

For my process, I looked at a lot of bowls and made my own sketches. After this, it was time to model it in Fuzion 360. The way I went about doing this was to revolve a shape around an axis and then focus on adding the wholes. After finishing the shape that I wanted to revolve, I went to all the planes and added random circles that I would later cut out from the shape. The finished result was my bowl with holes.

Product

I created a mid-size fruit bowl that reminds me one of my favorite artist, Yayoi Kusama. THe bowl was 3d printed with a white filament.

Reflection

I learned about what it takes to 3d print, and about the different types of fillings percentages. Also how long it takes to print!!
