Outcome

Intention

I designed this holder to work with craft paints.  It is hard to store the paints in an orderly manner.  This holder was designed to be modular, so that you can stack them in a tower.

Research + Context

I do not know of any other work in the field or if there really even is a field for this.  I simply measured the bottles of paint (as all brands are the same size) and designed something to work with it.

Aesthetic + Inspiration

I was going for function over form in this case.  The design is very simple to start.  I have some possible improvements in mind but they would be outside the scope of the class.

Process + Procedure

I have included some preliminary ideas for this holder in my slideshow (attached).  I did encounter an issue where NVBots wasn't slicing my model properly even though the model looked fine.  This resulted in a holder without all of the holes included.  I redesigned the model and did the order of operations differently, and the second print of the model had the correct holes.  On further consideration I can see how I could improve the efficiency of use of filament as the printed model has some sharp edges.  I also should have made the posts for stacking taller, or the holes deeper, because the models do not stack fully.

Reflection

I think the process overall was solid, and I learned much about doing things in Fusion 360.  I would use the same overall process if I were to do it again.
