Outcome

Intention

I started this project with the intention of at least setting the base for a knit scarf.

Process

Once I cast on with an appropriate number of stitches (~35) I knit as much as I could in the week week between the last class and the due date.

Product

The final product is a solid baseline for a purple scarf, and I have become much more comfortable with the process of knitting.

Reflection

This skill development was a good opportunity for me to work on a a task that I would not otherwise have had the time to develop. It provided a nice opportunity to unwind at the end of otherwise stressful work days. This benefit added to the practical skills in hand and machine sewing that I developed in the class. The improved ability to sew will contribute to my efforts to repair clothing and other fabric based items instead of throwing them out and replacing them.

Overall, I am happy to have decided to take this class and would wholeheartedly recommend it to other people who are interested in developing skills which allow to expand their creative pursuits.

Sample Book

Below I have included a series of pictures from my sample book. The techniques represented (in this order) are hand sewing, machine sewing, machine sewing a seam and darting, circular knitting, and sewing an electronic circuit.
