Intention
I wanted to further explore and practice my sewing skills since I barely had the experience of sewing before taking this class and also wanted to create something real that I can use.
Outcome
Process
I practiced both sewing by hand and with the sewing machine and created a few pencil cases and a small bag as well. I watched a few youtube videos to try to observe tips of sewing on the zipper since I found it a little hard to control the ends at first. The materials I used were basically patterned cloth, white thread, and the 7in long zippers I bought from online. In one of my bags, I also stitched in a small pocket in the inside. Bellow is a sketch of my process:
Reflection
I really enjoyed applying the skills I learned in this class to create my own personal objects that I can use in my daily life. Thinking about possible further applications, I feel that I would want to try to create and put together more complex designs (such has having multiple layers or pockets inside a bag, or putting multiple patches of cloth togehter to create a bag, etc ).
