Light Path is a dynamic lighting system incorporated within the Terrazzo floor of the Pittsburgh International Airport air side terminal. This installation makes use of a simple, linear lighting scheme. Opaque glass is laid into channels in the floor, under which a string of lights is programmed to send short lines of light up and down the channel. These would replace the flight path lines in the terrazzo floor, giving dynamic movement to these curves. The light mimics the paths of airplanes that follow these arcs as they fly, giving travelers a dynamic understanding of the skies above Pittsburgh as they arrive or depart the city.
