For this piece, I tried to create a lively, upbeat tune using loops and a variety of instruments. I chose the familiar piano for the melody, bass and drums for rhythm and harmony, and even added an experimental synth to change things up.
I used the concept of crescendi from Belkin to introduce the piece (starting with soft upright bass, adding drums, and eventually the melody to build volume and interest.) The form is simple ternary (ABA), with an introduction and three sections. The first introduces the piano melody; the second features a "question and answer" with a low melody and a high mirror; and the final one repeats the first section, with an extra synth harmony.
