Do the final research for the final project

When talking about playfulness, the first thing I come up with is the illusion. So I did the research from project 3.2 and project 4.1. Those two projects are all about cheating with illusions and achieving entertaining effects.
The first project I choose is Julian Hoeber's Demon Hill. It is a house that uses compound angle to disorient people in the house. People will lose the sense of normal gravity in the house. I choose this project because it shows the basic element to be attractive and entertaining: to give people refreshing and unusual feelings. From my point of view, the best way to do this is to use tricks to make people feel "unrealistic", to break up viewers common sense on reality. I think movies, novels and other performance are attractive also because people can have unusual experiences in those performances that they cannot feel in normal life.
It is a visualization of data from tweeter. Jer Thorp collected data from tweeter API about locations of people who post tweeter and estimated their flight information. Finally, he visualized them and created this beautiful representation of people's flight information. He created this work firstly for predicting epidemics. But then as he stated on his website, he found this video "sure does look cool" and could be "the base for some more interesting work"
From my point of view, his unexpected result with a beautiful and entertaining video implies how to be playful in the artwork. The playful video product should be something innovative and unexpected. Also, the work should be somehow beautiful. At least, the work itself should not be ugly for entertainment. No one before has ever expected to use tweeter information to present flight information. In addition, the beautiful light effects and the world map and animation also make the data visualization more attractive. If he had represented the data by using excel form, no one would find the data representation entertaining.
For this project, I think I will make the effect of playfulness by using tricks to create something unrealistic. I will try to present something unrealistic in our real life and try to deceive viewers. It might be some kind of Magician's trick, but in a digital way. Also, I will try to make the performance as beautiful as possible. The whole setting will be hopefully set up without viewers' notice because I want to break the lines between real life and imagination.
