Our team is planning on creating a mechanical installation out of small reflective panels and individual servo or DC motors around one of the wall niches in the 3577 Studios. The motors will be controlled via a mechanical input that visitors may interact with by changing various inputs on a control interface.

The servos will be mounted on conduit tubing which will serve as a structural skeleton, as well as contain the wiring. We will either create a reflective wedge, or mount reflective paneling onto a wedge which will be attached to the servos. The panels will be attached to motors in such a way that as they spin, the reflectivity will change and create a visual effect. Pending time and space and material constraints, we will tentatively have lights projection mapped to our reflective shapes so that we are able to even further modulate the effect. Projection mapping could also allow for more user interface with our installation.
