Physiological and Psychological Responses
I responded to it physiologically by moving my eyes from one brightly colored spot to the next, since I didn’t want to linger too long on the muted neutral colors; for instance, my eyes went from the multicolored array of drinks to the colorful posters to the green pillars to the bright stack of bagel baskets. I responded to it psychologically by thinking that the combination of neutral and bright colors is actually very calming; there’s nothing visually intense that catches and keeps my attention, nor is there a spot with lots of visual stimulation that can overwhelm me. instead, there’s just sporadically dispersed bright spots of color that allow me to take in all the colors and wander from one object to the next without trying to look at too many things at once.
