It seems like you're drawing inspiration from the paper leaves hanging from the ceiling. This uses the same material, paper, to give the material in bulk a new form. This is a great educational goal for an artistic project. The ukulele is also an unconventional instrument to use to attempt to teach the topic. Projection mapping seems like a technology that will grab a child's attention and foster an unprecedented appreciated for both tech and the instrument and learning about music while playing music.
I like your idea a lot, and I agree that combining pictures of various spots in CMU with different art styles is really cool. I would recommend surrealism artists like Magritte, Dali, and Escher. You can even play with the idea of time and infinite space if you have enough time. I look forward to your outcome, good job!
