Originally conceived as an ornithopter-like apparatus designed to mimic the flapping wings of a bird, we ended up with a medley of majestically mirrored mechanisms that rotate across a series of carefully connected components. To be more specific, what we have here is a reciprocating rotary drive with links that kinematically drive larger arms on a single pivot axle. In all, we have 1 degree-of-freedom with 4 pin- joints, 2 parallel connections and 2 series connections, all moving together in glorious harmony under a regal red light.
