Bathroom Holder

Holding my razors and toothbrushes to make sure they stay clean and not on the floor.

Intention:
I’ll be honest, I am not the tidiest person alive. I leave random objects lying around my table, bed, and sometimes, even on the floor. While most objects survive these abuses, some of my things that’s supposed to make sure my hygiene is good constantly become dirty from my laziness and clumsiness.
I decided to make a holder for my toothbrushes and razors. By having a specific place for these tools, I hope to keep my tools clean for my own health.
Research & Context
The first research that went into creation of the holder was looking how big the tools it’d be holding was. I rented a caliper to measure each materials. In the end, I measured the toothbrushes, electric razor, traditional razor, and the bathroom sink.

Aesthetic & Inspiration
Most of the aesthetic was focused on practical use. I just wanted to make sure that the holder was the right size to fit right right next to and on the sink, as well as not be too heavy to fall once I put the items on. My inspiration came from of the examples shown in class, which gave me the idea to create a ‘multi-holder’. I decided to go with the bathroom holder when I found my toothbrush on my floor for the third time.
Process & Procedure
The process began with measuring all of the items that would go inside. I decided to go with a fairly smaller holder, with 140 mm width in total (from 35 x 4), to ensure that the holder would stay on the sink without tipping over from the weight. I was worried about the whole printing queue time, as I felt like I was cutting time pretty close. After printing, I realized that the printer didn’t do quite what I wanted to, due to the nature of how the print works (in a block). I had to rip off the top part, which ended up with some of the mesh showing at the top.
