Final Project

I made a laptop cover using the sewing machine and laser cutting.

Reflection

During this project I learned how to laser cut fabric. It was my first time with the laser cutting machine and it was a lot of fun. It is definitely a tool that I would user later for other projects. I also had the chance to practice using the sewing machine as it was something I wanted to learn coming to this class. 

I discovered that hemming with thicker fabrics, especially in the corners was a challenge. 

After bad measurements and mistakes, I sat down and drew out my plan for my project. If I was to do this project a second time, I would create my plan first and start cutting and sewing later. I would also use another fabric, like a bias tape to cover the edges so that I wouldn't have to hem with such a thick fabric. 

Sample Book

There are samples of hand stitching, sewing, knitting, crocheting, use of conductive thread and other circuit material. 

This was a practice of using textile circuitry and the Gudetama character's balloon has an LED under it. When the conductive fabric under the belly of the character touches the two pieces of conductive fabric on the canvas, the circuit is completed and the LED light up. This was a particularly fun sample to make.
