Flower Power, flower crowns, and running through a meadow/field of flowers all incorporate some sense of optimism. The bright, saturated colors are associated with liveliness, vibrancy, and health. Under this all around positivity championed by the flower, I propose to set up pop-up fresh herbal tea/iced tea vending flower stands.

Many cities lack ubiquitous green spaces, which are usually confined in specific regions like parks or squares. However, green and city should not be contrasting features, but should instead be integrated to combine a healthier, less overwhelming quotidian city life for all residents. The flower stands are a quick, easy way to make cities more “green” as the stands will be accompanied by live plants and set up in numerous locations like the many recognizable franchises are. Our advantage is that we combine commerce and the innate human need for buying with benefits for customers and non-customers alike. Everyone will be able to enjoy the green our business provides, as our flower stands will in effect serve as wide spread free public art. The flower stands will serve as epicenters, due to their relative height in the streets and recognizable image, that will draw people towards them.

Most businesses that sell beverages do so indoors, in a closed-off manner. Customers have to altogether remove themselves from the streets and remain hidden in what is basically a room while they wait to receive their drink. Additionally, customers are not involved in the process of producing their drinks. They either grab them in a bottle from a fridge or have their names called when the drink is prepared. Instead of scrolling through your phone during those few minutes it takes for a drink to be prepared, customers of our flower stands can participate in the aesthetic process through which our teas are prepared, as well as themselves combining the fresh ingredients through customizable tea preparation presets.

The flower stands from which our teas can be purchased are works of art themselves, sculptures that draw inspiration from the works of Ana Tzarev (the flower stands will stand in multiple locations), Jeff Koons (the flower stands will have an inflated quality that makes them seem bigger than their height could), and Takashi Murakami (the flower stands’ flower top is based of Murakami’s designs).
