Life of Skype

Made by Matthew Bofenkamp

This project will be a song made entirely of speech and UI sounds from Skype, of which there are many. The song will be presented in a way similar to The Chainsmokers' #Selfie, with spoken lyrics that will comment on people who rely too much on internet lives in the way that #Selfie comments on shallow girls. The speech will be set to the musical soundtrack made of Skype sounds.

Sound Design

Intention

My intention is to provide a commentary on how different life is for people who spend the majority of their free time on the internet and give insight on how their lives may be more or less fulfilling depending on the person through an innovative musical canvas that will provide appeal.

Context

The borrowed portion of this assignment is the sounds made for Skype, which may be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdsOP8FycHs. I've downloaded them and will separate and rearrange them using audacity while adding voice files I will record.

Process

@Kai Goodness, no! I'm not that ambitious. Lyrics will be by actual humans. I'm also going to focus a lot on people with accents, since Skype social lives are often spent with more diverse groups in terms of where people live.
