Describing sound in 3d object
The piece really does remind me of the song and the mechanical feel that it gives. My main critiques are the texture of the piece and how many gears you chose to make. With the texture, I understand that it would be unreasonable to create gears yourself, but I wonder if you could have taken some already existing ones and used those? I also think the piece would've been more visually interesting with more gears but overall I think you have the main idea of the song down.
This is a really interesting concept. I think that given the time constraints, it was really well executed. I think that it was well thought out in how the physical object related to the sound and what it meant. However I agree with Toya that by a purely aesthetic viewpoint, it isn't particularly pleasing to look at. Although, I think its meaning makes up for that, and I can't think of any better way to recreate the same concept in a more aesthetically pleasing way.
I think the project was more detailed than you think it was; the gears looked pretty well made. It reminded me of that one CMU logo, with the two gears spinning and the "my heart is in the work" on it, which made me kind of happy, which I guess makes me a little bias, but yeah, I did like how aesthetically pleasing this was.
I wonder if you could consider materials more; like Toya said, maybe you could have used metal, or at least utilized colors in a meaningful way.
