Project 2

Made by Rachel Wong

This project is meant to show our ability to successfully create and print a STL design.

Created: October 16th, 2017

Intention

The goals of this project are to prepare a 3D file, export a valid mesh, and successfully print our design.

Context

Our guidelines were to make a general holder/container. I decided to make a cylindrical cup to hold my makeup brushes because they are often scattered all over my room.

Process

My process was basically all in fusion 360. I started by measuring my cylinder with the guidelines that the whole thing had to be larger than 2 cubic inches. I then created a downwards hole from the top of the surface.

I then exported it to a 3d printable mesh.

Finally, I uploaded it to NVbots and waited for it to get approved.

Product/Reflection

After the clock project, I felt rather familiar with fusion 360. Previously we had only used it to create DXF files for laser cutting, so this was my first time using it for 3d printing. I took an ideate class where we made meshes using 3D object design specific tools such as meshlab, so it was interesting to design a mesh using an application with more creative freedom. I found fusion360 easier to use to design an object with more of an artistic flow.
