I really like the idea behind this project, and I think it has a great potential. The important thing is probably to find a way to integrate the funny things and revelation of modern sensibilities and to find a balance between bloopers and other sci-fi movies. The interaction and presentation of this project is also important, and I look forward to seeing how the audience can interact with it.
This idea really has potential and I really like that fact that part of the motivation behind reworking this work comes from your inner-critic. I think working in insights on modern sensibilities is a very nice touch. It's not essential to the purpose of being viral but it does give the work some depth which gives you room to really make funny and meaningful at the same time. I would suggest as far making it installation ready that you really consider the framing of the mash up. Ultimately, that is the means through which the audience will interact with the piece. So putting the thought into that as well will enhance your work not only as a funny video but as an art installation. I am definitely interested to see how the result turns out. Good luck!
