Goal:

The goal of this project is to learn how to use neopixels to generate different patterns of ambient light. The project also involves learning how to do soldering in  order to attach wires onto neopixel strips.

Process:

The project follows the instructions provided on the course website about neopixel. The first step of the process is to connect three wires onto the LED strip using a soldering iron. After soldering, the strip is then connected to the Photon 2 dev board in a simple circuit. The majority of the skill dev is spent on learning how neopixel works and develop codes that allow the LED strip to display different patterns of light. The exercises that this skill devs focused on are: 1. Turn on the 8 pixels on the LED strip and turn them off in reverse order. 2. Modify the colors of the light and order them in sequence.

code:

Outcome:

With some modification to the code provided in the lab site, I am able to change the output of the lights and have them turn on and off in different pattern and sequences. The video demonstration is provided below.

Reflection:

Neopixel is a very useful tool to learn about how to modify the light output and generate ambient signals. The exercise help us learn about how the library works and the different interesting light patterns that it can generate.
