Alien/Weird

I tried to distort the sounds as much as possible so I played around with the vibrato and the filter envelope. I used the analog mode to do most of the distortions. I also wanted to create the echoes that can be heard in the piece to give a more eerie vibe, a characteristic that is usually placed onto aliens portrayed in movies. I put LFO and envelopes on the higher settings to (distort) it as much as possible.

Playful

I played with the table setting to create a sound that was not too distorted like the alien synth patch to eliminate the eeriness. There was a need to make this patch specifically, lighter in tone, so I decided to play a somewhat playful song using this patch. I tried to imitate the sound of a children’s toy piano to add a more light element to the piece.

Percussion

For the percussion synth patch, I also used the table synth section to create the percussion instrument. I wanted to also give a sort of distorted vibe to the patch and changed the settings on the LFO and ENV. I decided to emulate the xylophone when creating this percussion piece. I wanted to keep the short hits to be similar to a xylophone but altered enough to have an electronic element.
