Intention

Write about the big ideas behind your project? What are the goals? Why did you make it? What are your motivations?

For the second project, I was thinking about what are some inconveniences in my daily life. I was drinking wine with my friends one night and it was such a hassle to go back and forth to bring the glass and the bottle.

I thought about how to carry the wine bottle and the glass at the same time by using a holder. I designed it so that the flat surface that goes through the middle of the bottle and the glasses hang on the side. Therefore, just carrying one bottle with the holder would make the life easier.

Research & Context

Describe what informed your ideas and your outcome? How does your outcome relate to other work in the field? What are the precedent projects?

If you think about it we tend to move at least twice to get the wine and glasses since we cannot bring all of them together especially when we need more than 2 glasses.

I got the inspiration from this wine shelf which I can put both the bottles and the glasses at the same time. Making this form movable was the idea that I had to think about.

I measured the wine bottle to see how big the holder should be. However, the holder had to be big, so I used the small wine bottle as a model to make it fit into the NVBot. I was worried about the weight of the glass, but I thought if glasses are on all sides it would stay stable.

Process & Procedure

Outline your approach to the project? What ideas did you generate and how did you refine or reject them? What did you research and explore? what were the design choices? What challenges were encountered and how did you resolve them?

1. Figure out an inconvenience in my daily life

2. Research wine holders and what shapes they take

3. Created a sketch that holds four wine glasses

-my initial design had a wobbly shape but I noticed that balancing out each part is important to have four glasses together at the same time

4. 3D modeling of the holder using fusion

5. measured the wine bottle and glass

6. measured the size of the hole

7. rendering

-text and appearance

8. Download as STL

9. 3D printing using NVBot

Product

Detail what you created. What methods or techniques did you use? What tools and technologies were involved? Include images, code or video.

My final product is a wine glass holder that goes halfway through the wine bottle. Therefore, I can just grab a bottle and bring everything at the same time. I noticed that the hole that I have made is a bit small. I should have considered the thickness of the cap and made it bigger. However, when I opened the cap, the holder was able to go through.

Reflection

Reflect on the process of making this project. What did you learn? What would you do differently?

From this project, I was able to create something that gets rid of my inconvenience. By using fusion360 and 3D printing, I was able to create a wine glass holder that is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. I would want to make this bigger so that it could be more stable for larger glasses. Also, I want to use more complicated shapes which still can support all the glasses.
