Outcome

For this first part, I made my recording close to speaker. I was about 3 feet away across a large table, holding the speaker at a 45 degree angle from her face.

You can note the clarity in her voice, yet no matter how I tried with audacity, I could not eliminate that very prominent hum for this recording.

Then I proceeded to record from the room next to the speaker. Her voice carried through the arch, but it was more faint, and the noise heard before was surprisingly less prevalent.
