When I was your man -- bruno mars.

Working with the notion of foreground/background

the top -- bruno's voice is a higher pitch than the melody, which draws the listener's attention to it.

action -- relatively speaking, bruno's singing is more varied than the melody playing along side him, which helps bring his voice to the foreground.

novelty -- at the beginning the melody is varied and loud enough on it's own to be the foreground but as soon as bruno starts singing, the focus shifts immediately because his voice is new.
