Love Lock Bridge

Made by devonb

My proposal is the “Love Lock Bridge”. Inspired by the many love lock bridges in Pittsburgh, this interactive installation work would present love locks on a transparent LED screen on the Bakery Square Google bridge.

Google employees, as well as pedestrians passing under the bridge, can interact with the Love Lock Bridge by scanning a QR code. This will lead them to the lock input screen where they can enter the names they want on the lock, an optional date, and the color and style of the lock. When a new lock is put into the system, it will be brightly lit and have a cascading light effect on the other locks surrounding it. Users are also encouraged to enter their Google account where Google will cluster and connect the locks based on connections you have made through the Google platforms (gmail, google photos, YouTube, etc.). These connections will be visualized with light lines of light creating a web of individual locks. At night, the locks will glow softly.
