I chose to place the microphone at the fence because it seemed like the busiest and most active area on campus. When I recorded at the fence this afternoon, people's conversations and footsteps were much louder and more distinct than the recording. I had a sense of their position and overall distance whereas in the recording, the wind overpowers most of the people's voices. The wind was quite loud at the time of the recording but the microphone seems to be more sensitive to it and thus recorded it louder than the other sounds in the area. The microphone is not able to accurately capture the surrounding sounds as real time.
