These images showed a unique use of the grumpy cat meme. I enjoyed how well the layers built on one another. I felt that especially the change from layer 1 to layer 2 really showed how well one image can build on another, but still be different enough to consider it a powerful and entertaining meme on its own. I have always been a fan of this meme, and enjoyed seeing how it could be reworked. Great Work!
I like the evolution of your memes! I actually laughed when I saw the Chairman Meow and Adolf Kitler. The connection between layer 1 and layer 2 was very clear and it felt like a natural evolution of the meme. I very much enjoyed your work
The graphic design on the images is very strong. Each one has a clear message, and it is obvious what the original political concept is as well as how you remixed it. You did a good job sticking with a central theme of "cats as political rulers", and each piece brings something new to the idea.
Each image has its own uniqueness but share the same subject. I really like the strong contrast of colors of the cat. It's even better since you merge the cat with famous memes. These seem like they are worth sharing with other people. Nice job:)
Your meme project is so adorable! I like how you made the cat the center of your whole meme and kept it throughout the whole process. The variations are interesting too, applying the cat image and putting it into many different kinds of posters that are part of spreadable media. I love your outcome!
This project clearly reflects how people are crazy about animals' facial expressions resembling those of humans. In each of the images, the grumpy cat is personified to deliver a message, and that's a great use of the resemblance of the grumpy cat to a grumpy human, and shows why grumpy cat is so popular. Good job!
The first two shots are extremely strong. Great response from Matthew in particular. You keep the colors and extend them into new meme territory but it feels like a big departure. Why the sudden change?
At first when I saw the "Keep Calm and Obey" layer I immediately thought of the OBEY street art but I didn't choose to use it for 2 reasons: 1) I didn't feel as if it were a meme in the strictest sense and 2) I didn't want to use OBEY again (someone used it for their beg borrow steal). So I tried to find something that evoked the same sort of intimidating feeling and couldn't really think of a meme that fit that theme and I stumbled upon the Obama Hope poster meme. It didn't have the right feel but with the right grumpy cat image I felt like it easily could. I wanted to manipulate this meme to take it from a message of hope and inspiration and follow the intimidation and obey theme that I felt from the "Keep Calm" layer.
