To go viral showcasing the finely tuned aesthetic of a niche electronic subgenre.
1. Clarity. You explained the background of outrun and your intention, goals clearly. For someone who doesn't know about the theme of outrun before, your explanation makes perfect sense and introduced me the idea successfully.
2. Intent. With the history of outrun explained ahead, your intention builds on the background smoothly. Your intention of making some change of people's knowledge of a subgenre is also brave and worths trying.
3. Material. Video remix seems to be a great media through which the theme of outrun can be represented. But pay attention to how a remix will be different if the video is edited in a different method such as mashup.
4. Spread. Your goal of drawing people's attention to a specific genre is will hopefully make your work attention-catching. And since all of the clips, as what you described, will be the best examples of the aesthetic representation of "outrun", it will give the audience a great image of this genre which will very possibly change the way people view this topic before.
I like the idea of combining together multiple clips from the same genre, as the final product will likely be visually consistent and appealing. I think there is an opportunity to give your work more meaning beyond genre appreciation by carefully choosing and ordering the clips. For example, you could start from genuine 80's works to 2010's works that emulate that style, to see if there is a noticeable difference. You could also try to tell a story through the clips you choose.
