A 14 minute recording taken while tabling for a chili sale hosted by the Asian Student Association
Going to the bathroom is an inevitable part of life. People only go when they have to and try to spend as little time there as possible. It's an inconvenient speed bump in our daily routines and there's nothing really to gain from going. But what if there was some benefit? Like blood tests, urine tests are often conducted at doctor's appointments to reveal different things about a person's health at a glance. What if toilets conducted urine tests every time a person went to the bathroom and offered that data to people in an easy to understand way?
Inside the UC, it is always packed with people looking for a place to sit, especially during the lunch hours when people are trying to find a place to eat. We would like to make it simpler to find a place to sit during these times without the hassle of running around back and forth looking for an empty table. Our idea was to implement small, non-disruptive, green lights above each table to indicated whether or not someone is there. If the table is occupied, motion and weight sensors will pick up on this and change the light to red. Otherwise, the light remains green, so people can know where there's someone there.
Sounds fill the world around us, and they influence us in unique ways. It can change how we feel, how we remember things, and even connect us with one another.
For our project we created a video compilation with an original mix of music, along with an original album cover created for this assignment.
The cover takes inspiration from each of the three songs. The mellowness of Mind over Matter forms the background. The groovy sound of Baby I'm Yours makes up the border, while the brashness of Stuntin Like my Daddy is expressed in our laser shooting faces.
The mix is composed of 3 songs chosen by each of our group members, and shows how although we all have different tastes, our
love of music is something that connects all of us.
In the video we showcase each of us engaging in our artistic passions, and also snippets of who we are.
